The new Alameda Paratransit Shuttle service will provide Alameda's senior and disabled residents with access to major shopping destinations and medical facilities around the City. The shuttle will operate from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The Shuttle is being initiated as a pilot project and may be modified based on usage and feedback from riders.
Resources Directory
The City of Alameda Commission on Disability Issues has published a directory of services and resources for people with physical and/or cognitive disabilities.
Expanding Your Transportation Options
Just because you have trouble getting around doesn't mean you have to slow down. If age, illness, or a physical condition limits your access to transportation, the City of Alameda may be able to assist. We offer a range of options to address your needs.
If you live in the City of Alameda and use public transportation, you have three primary alternatives:
Accessible Public Transit
Both AC Transit and BART offer enhanced access to their buses and trains for those with disabilities. These often are the most flexible and economical options, and we encourage you to explore their services.
East Bay Paratransit
East Bay Paratransit (EBP) provides public transportation for people who are unable to use AC Transit or BART because of a physical condition.
The City of Alameda Paratransit program provides a variety of transportation programs for eligible residents, for times when public transit or EBP are not sufficient. These programs range from taxi rides for returning from medical appointments to buses traveling to popular destinations.
